ERM is hiring a Construction Safety Specialist for a key technology client in the San Diego, CA metropolitan area (Rancho Bernardo). In this critical role, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, managing, and continuously improving the safety programs for several ongoing construction projects. ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Renewables overseeing Impact Assessment, Planning and Permitting for renewable energy facilities throughout California. This role will lead environmental impact assessment and permitting for renewable energy facilities and other major capital development projects including solar developments, technology infrastructure and offshore and onshore wind energy projects. The ideal candidate will have experience permitting complex development projects in the power and/or technology sector along with technical expertise leading environmental, local, state-level, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews for large-scale capital projects.
It is preferred and desired that the candidate has experience developing permits and permitting strategies for renewable projects, particularly to support local land use permitting processes, including securing Conditional or Special Use Permits, identifying requirements or local municipalities and counties (e.g., buffer widths, vegetative screening, water quality monitoring, local storm water review criteria), analyzing the potential for variances, and working with developers to optimize layouts based on local permitting requirements.
As part of ERM’s planning team you will be leading consulting on a range of environmental, social, and health impact assessment projects to build a sustainable business both regionally and nationally, while networking with ERM's global technical teams to share best practices across the industry.
This position will focus primarily on environmental impact assessment and federal, state and local permitting to facilitate the development, construction, and operation of commercial-scale energy facilities and support the low carbon economy transition in the U.S. Our portfolio of projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse with clients developing facilities ranging from onshore wind and solar to offshore wind. RESPONSIBILITIES:

ERM is hiring an Environmental Regulatory Specialist. This role can be based anywhere in the United States. The ideal candidate will have a background in one of the natural sciences and experience in planning and coordinating Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) application filings for natural gas Projects. It is preferred and desired that the candidate has experience developing documents and permitting strategies for FERC. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and provide technical expertise on site investigation and remediation projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues in the power, chemical, transportation, and other manufacturing sectors.
Prepare remedial documents and reports such as feasibility studies, remedial and/or corrective action plans, remedial design documents, remedial progress and completion reports, etc.
Design and negotiate remedial solutions for contaminated soil and ground water, using innovative and emerging remedial treatment technologies as well as traditional systems.
Oversee multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables across ERM’s Contaminated Site Management service line [e.g., Brownfields redevelopment, site investigation and remediation, sustainable sediments, risk assessment, environmental construction management, site closure and decommissioning].
Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and mentor junior staff.
Coordinate with ERM offices in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe regions on national and international project delivery.
Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the Contaminated Site Management service area in the western US.
Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in engineering.
4-5 years consulting experience working with significant industrial clients on complex site investigation/remediation projects under a variety of state, federal, and international regulatory structures (e.g., CERCLA, RWQCB, DTSC, and local CUPAs).
Professional Engineer (PE) Certification in California (or ability to obtain professional license within one year) required.
Proven business development experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business, including established contacts in Power, Transportation, Manufacturing, and/or Chemical industry clients.
Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory climate, with proven negotiation skills with state and local regulators.
Recognized technical expertise by and established reputation in the local marketplace.
For the Managing Consultant, Environmental Engineer position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $90,000– $106,894 USD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
