We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant (Radiology Technician) to join our team to perform clinical assessments and clinical trial administration. Experience in clinical research is ideal but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Primary responsibility of the research assistant (radiology technician, primarily focusing on dual x-ray absorptiometry) would bepreparing and educating clinical trial participants about the imaging procedure
   reviewing participants' IDs and study requirements, and maintaining participants' records during and after procedures
   perform the imaging procedure
   calibrating the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the study protocol
   ensuring the proper sterilization and storage of the equipment, maintaining radiographic equipment, and reporting any equipment failures

Project Title: Marine Organisms as Sources of Specialized Metabolites to Disrupt Bacterial Communication: Isolation and Identification of Quorum Sensing Inhibitors

Project Introduction: The emergence and the spread of multidrug-resistant bacteria constitute a major public health issue. Among incriminated Gram-negative bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa has been designated by the WHO as a critical priority threat. P. aeruginosa has the capacity to form biofilms, reinforcing its virulence and intrinsic drug resistance. The regulation of biofilm and virulence factor production of this microorganism is controlled by a specific bacterial communication system called Quorum Sensing (QS). The development of antivirulence agents targeting QS that could attenuate P. aeruginosa pathogenicity without affecting its growth is therefore an attractive new therapeutic strategy. The current research proposal aims to identify unique specialized metabolites as QS inhibitors (QSIs) from largely underexplored local marine fauna and flora, specifically marine sponges, octocorals and cyanobacteria found at southern islands of Singapore. The proposal has four main objectives: (A) collection and screening of selected marine taxonomic groups for QS inhibitory activities using P. aeruginosa reporter strains, (B) perform MS-based metabolomic analysis of bioactive fractions for compound dereplication and detection of new/novel metabolites, (C) purification and structural determination of bioactive molecules using chromatographic and spectroscopic methods and (D) evaluation of compounds in attenuating virulence factors production and biofilm formation in P. aeruginosa with collaborators at SCELSE, NTU.

Job Description

We are looking for passionate and self-motivated research assistant to join our multidisciplinary team to work on the development of novel nanocatalysts and in situ investigation of the structure-property relationship. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with a group of researchers from various disciplines and also assist the principal investigator in guiding junior researchers and graduate students as well as in managing project and laboratory. Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in materials, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, environmental engineering, or any other related fields.
• Experience in nanomaterials synthesis, catalysis, in situ characterization will be advantageous.
• Good written and spoken communication.
• Self-motivated; able to work independently and collaboratively.
