Performance Tester

Location: Home working with travel to Farnborough once a week and as required

We are looking for a Performance Tester to join our growing software testing capability in Farnborough. The Performance Tester will be load and stress testing an integral backend system working with large synthetic and production dataset to ensure system performance complies with the performance requirements.

The Performance Tester will be fully immersed on to one of our key security programmes and will have the opportunity to be put through security clearance. In addition, the Performance Tester will be part of a team to help us deliver a large-scale systems integration programme that is critical to the overall UK infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Work with architects and product owners to understand non-functional requirements.
• Review non-functional requirements and develop corresponding Performance/Non-functional test scripts ensuring full coverage.

The role

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The key focus of this role is to support the delivery of one of our most important contracts on time, to the right quality and to the planned cost.

Day to day, you'll:
Represent the customer's interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have. Speak regularly with the customer quality representative.
Provide quality input and advice through the product lifecycle
Identify quality risk and work to mitigate, manage and escalate to programme leadership
Participate in the non-conformance process, driving root cause analysis and prevention where appropriate
Oversee progress and sign-off on completion of the delivery process to give the customer assurance their requirements have been met

This role provides flexible hybrid working with one to two days per week onsite and the remainder working from home. You must be able and willing to travel to our customers sites.

Essential experience of the Senior Quality Engineer

• A proficient quality assurance engineer with experience in a related industry and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
• Previous customer-facing roles or experience is beneficial
• Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within a team or organisation.
• Experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems.
• An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques, and be able to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g. Pareto, FMEA, 5 why's, 8D, etc.)
• Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and able to give examples of how you have used them in previous situations.

Qualifications for the Senior Quality Engineer

• ONC, HNC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a quality, science, engineering discipline
• Membership of a recognised quality institute e.g. CQI would be desirable
• ISO 9001 auditor preferable but training can be provided

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.

• You will be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of the Division Quality Management System (QMS) quality websites, which affect all NSWCPD technical products and services.
• You will manage and monitor the Quality Management Office (QMO) SharePoint site and Command Quality Tracking System (CQTS) action items.
• You will develop and update Quality Management System Awareness Training.
• You will be responsible for maintaining Quality Assurance Program documents, QMS Quality Management Procedures (QMPs) and performing self-assessments.
